Healthcare options are available if you are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to pay. 

NWBRHC, in partnership with Holy Name, hosts a Child Health Conference Clinic on the third Wednesday of each month for uninsured children or those with Medicaid Part A who live in our contracted towns and are 18 years of age or younger. These clinics provide free physical examinations, developmental assessments, select screenings, immunizations against vaccine-preventable childhood diseases, and nurse/physician counseling.

Healthcare options are available if you are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to pay. This page provides options for accessing free or low-cost medical treatment. 

(Charity Care, Dental, Vision, etc.)

Delivers high-quality health care to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. You don’t need health insurance to receive care at a health center. They serve the uninsured and patients with Medicaid, NJ FamilyCare, Medicare, and private insurance. If uninsured, fees are charged based on your income level using a sliding fee scale. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) is a state-licensed healthcare center with locations in Hackensack and Garfield. BVMI provides FREE, high-quality, patient-centered healthcare. You may qualify for BVMI’s free services if you live in Bergen County, someone in your household is employed, and your total household income meets eligibility criteria. BVMI provides primary care, a range of specialist appointments, and referrals to social services, including rental assistance, ESL classes, food pantries, and more..

The Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s mission is to ensure that all patients receive emergency and medically necessary hospital services regardless of their ability to pay. Financial assistance and discount programs are available for eligible patients. These programs cover medically necessary hospital services. However, these programs may not cover physician, radiology interpretation, or anesthesiology fees.

New Jersey’s publicly funded health insurance program – includes CHIP, Medicaid, and Medicaid expansion populations. That means qualified NJ residents of any age may be eligible for free or low-cost healthcare coverage that covers doctor visits, prescriptions, vision, dental care, mental health and substance use services, and even hospitalization. As of January 1, 2023, children under 19 may now apply for NJ FamilyCare regardless of their immigration status. All other requirements for NJ FamilyCare still apply. The NJ Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing administers two programs available for residents with low incomes who are in need of hearing aids. Click HERE for information about the NJ Hearing Aid Project and the Hearing Aid Assistance for the Aged and Disabled.

Free Flu Vaccines & COVID Vaccines for Children in NJ:

The New Jersey Department of Health has launched a coordinated effort to enhance availability and access to free COVID-19 and flu vaccines for children, regardless of insurance status. You can find information regarding the Bergen County vaccination site below.
