National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Dear Residents,

The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a growing public health and safety concern. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That’s dangerous and often tragic. That’s why it was great to see thousands of residents from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in – safely and anonymously – a record amount of prescription drugs.

This year, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

You can find your drop-off location HERE.

Additionally, Authorized Collectors provide year-round drop-off locations to the public to dispose of unwanted pharmaceuticals.

Visit the DEA website HERE for more information.

The DEA is committed to making communities safer and healthier by reducing overdoses and overdose deaths. While the community does its part to turn in unneeded medications and remove them from potential harm, they are doing its part to reduce drug-related violence further.

Take care and be well,

NWBRHC Staff
