Food Handler/Food Manager Certification
A Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) inspects food establishments to determine if there is a violation of Chapter 24 of the State Sanitary Code.
Part of Chapter 24 of the State Sanitary Code is a requirement that the Person In Charge (PIC) in Risk 3 Establishments be trained in an approved Food Manager Protection class. Approved Food Manager Protection certificates require proctored exams and are valid for five years.
In addition, many individual towns have enacted more restrictive requirements for both Food Handler and Food Manager Protection Training.
