Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission is proud to share our March 2025 Community Resource Spotlight on an organization that offers vital services to residents in Bergen County:
The Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDHH) is dedicated to breaking down barriers and enhancing accessibility for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind. Through its mission of education, advocacy, and direct services, DDHH works to ensure that programs, services, and information are fully accessible to the state’s general population.
DDHH provides vital information and referral services to connect residents with essential resources. The division’s Communication Access team offers expert guidance in securing certified interpreters and Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) services, tailoring solutions to each person’s specific needs.
The Language Instruction Program (LIP) promotes early language development for deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind children ages 0-5, with services available in various settings, including childcare and home environments.
DDHH also manages two hearing aid programs—NJHAP and HAAAD—providing hearing aids to eligible New Jersey residents. Additionally, DDHH offers a wide range of resources and training for government agencies, businesses, and community organizations, empowering both the general and the deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind communities.
