Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission is proud to share our September 2024 Community Resource Spotlight on an organization that offers vital services to residents in Bergen County:
Bergen County LGBTQ+ Alliance (BCLA)
The mission of the Bergen County LGBTQ+ Alliance (BCLA) is “to advocate for equality and resources for the LGBTQ+ community in Bergen County, N.J., to celebrate our diversity, and to provide safe spaces that allow us to be our true selves.”
BCLA stays current on the county’s upcoming initiatives and monitors the resources it provides, including Monkeypox vaccinations and gender reassignment medical services offered by local hospitals. BCLA also tracks services from private non-profits like NJ Buddies (supporting those with HIV and AIDS), PFLAG, and GLSEN.
In addition, BCLA compiles lists of local, publicly accessible services and makes this information available to the local LGBTQ+ community both online and in person.

Meet, Greet, and Eat!
- A monthly event creating a space for LGBTQ+ 60+ Seniors to come together both In-person and on Zoom.

Young Scholars Program
- A free support group for LGBTQ+ youth ages 14-21, helps with life skills, conquering fears, and learning to advocate for yourself.

- The Marsha P. Johnson Social is a monthly in-person gathering for trans and non-binary individuals and LGBTQ allies

- An inclusive Womxn’s group open to all LGBTQ+ womxn
