Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission is proud to share our December 2024 Community Resource Spotlight on an organization that offers vital services to residents in Bergen County:
Women’s Rights Information Center
Established in 1973, Women’s Rights Information Center (WRIC) empowers individuals by providing resources for economic independence, self-sufficiency, and emotional well-being. Serving over 2,000 individuals annually, WRIC addresses housing stability, financial literacy, trauma therapy, peer support, and more, with a focus on low-income populations.
WRIC’s mission is to provide knowledge and opportunities to support the economic aspirations, self-sufficiency, and emotional well-being of individuals so they may live with hope, security, and dignity.
WRIC’s free or low-cost services for eligible clients, including:
- Career and Displaced Homemaker Services: Entrepreneurship seminars, resume development, educational counseling, job training assistance, and career closet.
- Victim Services: Crisis intervention and legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
- Wellness Counseling: Evidence-informed individual and group therapy for trauma amelioration.
- Education Services: ESL, citizenship, technology empowerment, and financial literacy programs.
- Housing Assistance Services: Shared Housing and Housing Search & Placement services for those at risk of homelessness.
- Supportive Services: Health and wellness workshops and peer support groups.
