Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission was organized in 1957 and serves as the Health Department for two Commission towns, Midland Park and Waldwick. NWBRHC also contracts to provide Public Health Services with the following municipalities: Allendale (Vital Statistics only), Emerson, Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Hillsdale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Montvale, River Vale, Saddle River, Township of Washington, and Westwood. Each municipality is represented by a Local Board of Health, comprised of residents from the town.
NWBRHC, in collaboration with the appointed Local Boards of Health, helps ensure that important services—such as disease prevention, food safety, and health education—are available in every community we serve, as per the Public Health Practice Standards of Performance for Local Boards of Health in New Jersey, NJ.A.C 8:52, and the 10 Essential Public Health Services.
